Dr Alasdair R Drummond was born in Scotland. He graduated with a medical degree from Glasgow University in 1975. He completed Internal Medicine and Surgical residencies at Glasgow Royal Infirmary, Obstetrics at Queen Mothers Maternity Hospital. He also completed a residency in Anesthesia at the Western Infirmary in Glasgow before going on to complete a family practice residency in Clydebank, Scotland. He immigrated to Provost, Alberta, Canada with his family in 1981. While there, Dr Drummond practises a full scope of family medicine, prenatal and maternity medicine, and emergency medical services. In 1991 he moved his family to Stettler, he widened his scope of practice to include Chronic Pain Management.
In 2009, because he believes in giving back to a profession he enjoys, Alasdair accepted an academic appointment with the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Calgary to become a preceptor for both students and residents taking part in the rural medicine program. He regularly has a student and or resident with him at both the clinic and the hospital. Alasdair feels that he gets just as much back and learns from these young upcoming doctors as he shares with them. Alasdair has held many administrative positions with the medical community over the years. He was President and Past president of the Medical Staff for the David Thompson region.
